The Story

As Rome's Cinecitta Studios celebrates its 50th anniversary, a Japanese television crew arrives to interview director Federico Fellini (himself), who is preparing to shoot an adaptation of Franz Kafka's novel, "Amerika." Fellini recalls the early days of his career, including his initial visit to the sound stages as a young journalist in 1938, and spends time reminiscing with Marcello Mastroianni and Anita Ekberg, stars of his landmark film "La Dolce Vita."
